Cabling, bolting, and bracing can be used to help retain highly regarded trees that have structural deficiencies. Although there are no guarantees that mechanical supports will prevent failures, They can greatly improve the prospect of tree preservation where appropriate.
BRACING

A large leader broke out of this Valley Oak. Although the top part of the leader broke off from the trunk the bottom section was still attached. |

We installed two cables and two galvanized pipe supports (that were later painted black) in order to retain this leader and the critical view it provided to the homeowner. |

We use concrete with a metal plate to support the metal bracing prop in the ground |

This threaded cap holds the metal bracing prop to the branch or trunk being supported with minimal damage to the tree. The new wood tissue formed will grow down and around the top of the prop, increasing its stability. |
